As a freelance interpreter on the MCIS roster, you will be required to Interpret (perform spoken translation) in community settings (such as hospitals, the police, tribunal hearings, schools, etc) between English and Turkish languages.
Candidates must be fluent in English and Turkish. Reading proficiency is also necessary as candidates may be asked to read and orally translate short readings, such as application forms.
Soft skills include sensitivity and willingness to support the community by providing a service for vulnerable populations who have linguistic barriers.
Candidates must also be willing to travel either by car or public transportation (or any other means) to the location of the assignments. A number of over-the-phone or video assignments are also available, which can be completed from home.
If this is your first time doing interpretation, we have a short, online training module available for you which you will be required to complete.
If you are a trained and tested interpreter, you are welcome to join our roster.
