Purpose:
The Manager, FP&A is a key member of the Canada Finance organization leadership team, partnering directly with colleagues both within finance as well as the wider organization and overseeing FP&A direct reports.
The Manager, FP&A will be a driver of Messer Canada Finance transformation initiatives, specifically but not limited to adoption of analytical tools and reporting automations and will lead the planning and analytical function.
The Manager, FP&A will partner with the wider Canada leadership team to support and lead cross functional initiatives.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee and develop direct report(s) in FP&A.
- Lead the Canada finance analytic practice, ensuring its evolution to a best in class, proactive source of business intelligence for the wider organization.
- Manage all aspects of Canada finance reporting automation. Also work with and mentor colleagues in their respective process modernization journey’s.
- Oversee and actively participate in business performance analysis ensuring integrity, timeliness and usefulness of outputs.
- Develop insightful commentary on performance and executive level presentation of data.
- Proactively engage with business units for implementation of change/improvement initiatives and to drive improved business performance.
- Manage the accurate and timely preparation of periodic forecasts and annual budgets for the business through to management presentation and system sign-off.
- Work directly with the Director of Finance and VP/GM to translate strategy into financial plans.
- Manage the performance calculations and reporting for business incentivization targets.
- Oversee the Sales scorecards and incentive plans which are utilized by management to drive and motivate frontline sales staff towards appropriate goals.
- Lead the review and approval of productivity management within the requirements of program definitions.
- Provide systems expertise and training to business partners.
- Support building data models and analysis tools for business use and mentor colleagues in use/adoption and enhancing future self-serve capabilities, ensuring expertise of finance is shared with the wider organization and finance is seen as a driver in this space.
- Ensure consistency of master data and effect process changes where required to ensure long-term data integrity.
- Oversee the maintenance of databases, business intelligence system queries, mapping and reconciliation tables to ensure integrity and accuracy of reports.
- Build and maintain process documentation.
- Lead and participate in FiCo and cross functional projects.
What it takes:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Math/Computer Science or similar
- Masters Degree / MBA, Finance or similar
Key Skills and Attributes:
- 7 years’ experience in a Finance environment
- 5 years’ supporting projects and change management agendas
- 2 years’ direct managerial experience
- CPA, Six Sigma green belt
- Strong analytical skills bringing insights to numbers and trends
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills - ability to share and convey insights to be used in good business decision making
- Strong Business Warehouse (or similar BI tool) experience and detailed process knowledge ensuring data integrity and data validity
- In-depth knowledge of ERP systems (ideally SAP) and business information systems
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel (knowledge of Power Query and PowerPivot a plus)
- Advanced knowledge of MS Access, MS PowerPoint (ThinkCell)
- Knowledge of statistics, predictive analytics and/or machine learning a plus
- Formal training and knowledge of coding languages would be considered a significant asset
