Job Overview: The build crew members are responsible for building and assembling obstacles on the race course and in the festival area at various events throughout Canada. The primary role is to ensure obstacles are constructed to the highest standards while completing tasks in a timely fashion.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Construct or assemble obstacles according to Mud Hero specifications.
  • Assist in the load-in/load-out phases of event production.
  • Load/unload trailers, transport and build obstacles using or being around heavy equipment.
  • Proactively address issues as they arise in order to complete assignments within preset time frames.
  • Work in poor weather, long hours, and fast-paced challenging conditions.
  • Oversee a zone on the race course consisting of several obstacles and aid stations.
  • Instruct volunteers concerning proper enforcement of obstacle rules.
  • Provide support for volunteers in the form of education, food, and any assistance necessary.
  • Adherence to all safety laws and regulations at work including Mud Hero policies
  • Stay up to date and relay new directives or changes to processes;
  • Be comfortable working at heights, using tools, driving trucks and trailers

Qualifications:

  • Communicate and speak effectively before groups of volunteers, contractors, or employees. (read and speak conversational English).
  • Have a proven attention to detail and ability to multitask • Possess a strong analytical mindset and approach problem solving.
  • Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
  • Hands on experience building houses, decks, cabinetry, working with truss or scaffolding are an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Requirements: • Willingness and ability to travel.

  • Frequently works 10 hour days outdoors, in adverse conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrate full range of movement including but not limited to lifting, standing, bending, reaching, twisting, and crawling.
  • Occasionally lifts, pushes, pulls, and moves equipment and material weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license without restrictions; clean driving record.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Occasionally climb ladders and work off elevated surfaces as well as climb up onto and down from equipment.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract

Seasonal Contract length: Schedule listed below.

$25/hour (8-10hr days)

Schedule:

  • 10-12 hour shift
  • Day shift • Holidays
  • Monday to Sunday
