NTE Energy Canada Ltd has an opening for an electrical & Instrumentation Technician. This position is camp based consisting of 15 days on shift followed by 13 days off shift. The position requires a self-motivated individual to be a part of our day-to-day field and plant operations.

Reporting to the Field Foreman, key areas of responsibility include:

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the site preventative maintenance program, including managing computerized equipment maintenance records and data.
  • Test, troubleshoot, and repair transmitters, switches, and control valves as required.
  • Calibrate and adjust set points on a variety of different instruments.
  • Installing, inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of plant processing and Well Control instrumentation devices.
  • Determine tests and maintenance procedures for instruments used for measuring and controlling flow, level, pressure, temperature, and other variables in Oil and Gas Production and Processing operations.
  • Install and trouble tubing and air actuated instruments.
  • Identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Repair faulty equipment or systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies/procedures as they pertain to this position.
  • Maintain safe work practices.
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
  • Other duties as requested by the Supervisor.

Education & Professional certification

  • Alberta Journeyman Instrumentation Mechanic Red Seal certification or equivalent Canadian journeyperson certification with Interprovincial Red Seal.
  • 3 years related work experience.
  • ARC Flash training/certification is an asset.
  • Completion of grade 12 or a GED.
  • Valid Class 5 driver license.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Commitment to work in a safe and efficient manner (adherence to Lock Out-Tag Out, Confined Space, Fall Protection, Hot Work, Arc Flash and other applicable regulations and practices).
  • Ability to read/understand blueprints and SD Keys.
  • Knowledge and understanding of automation and Control systems: such as Scada, HMI, Allen Bradley, Delta V.
  • Able to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Superior troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work with others to perform all aspects of maintenance activities.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb a 6 ft. ladder.
  • Ability to assemble/disassemble parts with both hands.
  • Oil and Gas industry experience is an asset.
