Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking a River School Manager to join our Education team.

  • Start Date: July 29th, 2024
  • Starting Salary Range: $55,000-60,000 (full-time)
  • Hours: 37.5 hours/week

What you will do

As River School Manager you will oversee, develop and lead engaging place-based experiential educational programming about the Ottawa River watershed. Tasks will include:

  • Ensuring project deliverables are met, overseeing education budgets, preparing reports for funders, and supervising staff and volunteers
  • Developing educational modules, resources, and interpretive materials for Grade K-12 students and their teachers about the wonders of the Ottawa River watershed and how people can collaborate to protect it
  • Scheduling and delivering presentations/workshops at schools and at Ottawa Riverkeeper’s Learning Lab (NCC River House)
  • Promoting, tracking and evaluating educational programs, with a focus on accessibility for under-served communities
  • Collaborating with Ottawa Riverkeeper’s science team, Anishinābeg Algonquin advisors, community scientists, and education advisors to co-develop engaging educational programs

What you bring

You are an enthusiastic and skilled project manager with environmental education experience who cares deeply about connecting diverse learners to the wonders of the Ottawa River and the actions needed to protect the watershed. You bring to the position:

  • Demonstrated project management skills (i.e., budgets, reporting, supervision)
  • A minimum of three years of teaching experience in environmental education (or related discipline), preferably with a Bachelor of Education
  • Experience developing, leading, and evaluating educational programs for diverse learners

Other valued skills considered an asset:

  • Bilingual in English and French (oral and written)
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
  • Valid First Aid certificate
