FUNDAMENTAL OBJECTIVE
The fundamental objective of this role is to develop Petroleum Service Technician skills and training to effectively deliver safe, responsive quality technical services, with minimal supervision, to minimize customer downtime and achieve company service goals.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The incumbent is accountable to the Service Manager or the Sr. Service Technician and under the mentorship of senior colleagues is responsible for understanding, identifying and delivering customer technical service to address customer requirements meeting company safety and service standards.
The successful candidate will use their technical/trade background to support work completion and is willing without question to take necessary training and mentorship to become well versed in Petroleum Service. On Call work schedule and Travel is required.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The incumbent receives general direction from Service Manager/Dispatcher and is mentored by the Sr. Service Technician. They rely on a technical education/background in trades as well as some industry experience and knowledge to accomplish technical service requirements. The incumbent interacts with the Service Dispatcher, customers, manufacturers’ support personnel and technicians.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
· A technical or trade certificate
· Ability to operate required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
· Technical and mechanical aptitude
· Interested in and ability to demonstrate logical troubleshooting skills
· Manual Dexterity: Repeated and coordinated use of your arms, hands, wrists, and fingers to use handheld tools
· Physical Strength and stamina: Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to hold, push, pull, lift and carry heavy items
· Excellent customer service skills
· Ability to build strong external and internal relationships
· Ability to effectively interface and interact with manufacturer support personnel
· Proficient knowledge of in-house systems, procedures and processes
· Familiar with safe work practices and procedures
· Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision
· Ability to use proper lifting techniques to lift items weighing in excess of 50 lbs.
· Ability to work with others and independently with minimum supervision
· Must be motivated, hardworking and possess initiative
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Must be willing to learn and be open to completing required safety training or industry standard training to advance knowledge and be successful
· Service and maintain petroleum equipment, systems and accessories
· Continuous knowledge and skills to be learned:
o Veeder Root Level 2/3
o one or more manufacturers courses on dispensers
o one or more manufacturers courses on POS systems.
· Provides technical service by:
o strong grasp of electrical and hydraulic theory in technical work performed
o working knowledge of dispenser electronics
o laptop troubleshooting tool
· Small construction jobs i.e. spill box replacement
· Understand and follow the processes around work orders and purchase orders
· Understand manufacturer’s warranty process, complete paperwork and returns cores in a timely manner
· Maintain/repair (with minimal supervision)
o suction pumps and related systems
o submersible pumps, dispensers and related equipment
o leak detection and tank monitoring systems
o commercial handling equipment
· Manage inventory for parts used (returns, requests and replacements)

· Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures
· Travel is required. Candidates must be free to travel to support our client supports.
· Must be willing to work on an on-call basis

QUALIFICATIONS
· High School Diploma
· Trade Certifications or technical courses (ex: Skilled Trades Techniques, Electrical Technician or others)
· 2 – 10 years experience in construction, service and/or downstream petroleum
· Specific Petroleum Skills below considered an asset but not required:
o Experience working on installation and troubleshooting of dispensers
o One or more manufacturers courses on dispensers
o One or more manufacturers courses on POS systems
o Veeder Root Level 2/3 considered an asset
o Licenses Installer or Petroleum Mechanic Certificate
· Electrical experience considered an asset
· Must successfully complete drug and alcohol testing
· Must have valid driver’s license
· Compensation based on experience with possibility to increase
