As a Technical Director working in the Building and Operations team at Pomerleau Construction you will be the driving force in organizing, mobilizing and leading the project from a technical perspective, considering the project requirements and the design & build contract. Managing large-scale building and infrastructure projects – ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion – you will cover all technical aspects of a project, including design of the permanent works, planning and development with construction teams of the construction methods, design of the temporary works, geotechnical studies, and 3D modeling (BIM), etc.
What You Will Do
- Plan, mobilize, and lead project teams for technical oversight including design management, methods, temporary works, and BIM.
- Manage budget for project technical department, overseeing staff and consultants (architects, engineers, specialty consultants).
- Verify and validate technical management plans (design, methods & temporary works, BIM), ensuring processes are correctly applied.
- Participate in major technical reviews and oversee technical risks management, reporting on project risk register as needed.
- Supervise technical studies for methods, permanent and temporary works, ensuring compliance and promoting optimization and efficient solutions.
- Manage and control design changes to align with project requirements and commercial aspects.
- Review, validate, and ensure compliance with overall design schedule and deliverables, aligned with project timeline and milestones.
- Assist in establishing information systems and selecting software/tools for technical management.
- Produce regular progress reports on schedule, cost, and performance indicators for technical management; analyze and implement necessary measures.
- Support procurement team in defining technical aspects of contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
This role could be for you if you have
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering or equivalent work experience.
- Over 15 years of professional experience, including 5 years in technical management on major, complex, and multidisciplinary projects involving methods, temporary works, and design management.
- Experience on building projects (especially in the healthcare sector) using design-build, PPP or other alternative modes that include design.
- Ability to travel to remote locations.
