Full time (35 hours/week) – 10 month contract
To coordinate the lived experience program within the framework of StreetWorks. The harm reduction program aims to reduce the transmission of HIV and other blood-borne infections among people who use drugs, to engage clients and support them into testing and treatment services, and to provide individuals with harm reduction education and supplies.
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate the StreetWorks lived experience program
· Recruit and train people with lived experience to participate in all levels of programming
· Conduct outreach activities in partnership with lived experience colleagues
· Address public concerns while working in community
· Providing ongoing support and professional development to lived experience workers, including hosting regular meetings
· Participate in committee work alongside colleagues with lived experience
· Provide evening outreach services
· Provide warm transfer of clients into a variety of treatment and support services
· Offer training on the use of Naloxone
· Provide verbal and written messages on HIV / AIDS, HCV and STBBI risk reduction
· Distribute harm reduction materials and information, including syringes, as per public health regulations and protocol
The incumbent will adhere to the Mission Statement and Policy and Procedures of Positive Living Niagara and will represent Positive Living Niagara in a professional manner
Qualifications
A college or university degree in social or health services with experience in addictions and mental health in the community social services sector, ideally within a harm reduction environment. The incumbent will hold a valid driver’s license with a clear driving record and able to provide a drivers abstract as per company vehicle insurance policy. Have access to a reliable vehicle. The incumbent will have a vulnerable sector check. Experience living with or supporting someone with HIV/AIDS and/or substance use. Lived experience is an asset.

· French language skills an asset
