Purpose
To provide a variety of support services to the Manager, Facilities to support other departments, members and guests and ensureeffective execution of property operations and maintenance including, but not limited to, curling, pickleball, sport fields, gun range, pool,and general building maintenance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • General building repairs and maintenance, including but not limited to basic plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry,equipment maintenance and repairs, building repairs etc.
  • Safe operation and maintenance of equipment required for Curling ice, including but not limited to installation, removal,resurfacing, painting, logos, and the proper operation of specialized equipment.
  • Safe operation and maintenance of refrigeration system(s) including but not limited to readings, basic maintenance, checking oil and from chiller, basic troubleshooting.
  • General custodial duties including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, cleaning washrooms and showers, sanitizing.
  • Assist with setup/teardown of special events as required.
  • Safe operation of equipment to properly maintain sports facilities including soccer pitches, ball diamonds, volleyball andgeneral ground maintenance as required.
  • Safe operation of equipment and maintenance of swimming pool and spa filtration system. Including annual opening andclosing of swimming pools, chemical readings, water balancing, troubleshooting, backwash, vacuuming and othermaintenance duties as required.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to our members and users of the facilities in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Responds in a timely and safe manner to emergency situations as directed and outlined in the RA’s Safety and Emergency Procedures Plan, and
  • Perform other related duties in support of business operations as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Posses at minimum grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment, mechanical and building maintenance,
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in recreation building operation environment including but not limited to arena, curling, pool and spa, sports fields,
  • Knowledge of basic refrigeration and HVAC systems (ORFA refrigeration and HVAC training certification an asset),
  • NSPF Certified Pool Operator or equivalent,
  • Completion of WHMIS training, First Aid, CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator),
  • Experience in operation of equipment including but not limited to tractor, attachments, and various small tools,
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including evenings and weekends to meet the demands of the business,
  • Is required to wear CSA approved protective footwear (steel toed boots) on the job and other PPE according to safety regulations,
  • Proven public relations and communication skills,
  • Ability to communicate in English essential, bilingual (English/French) an asset,
  • Basic computer skills an asset,
  • Ability to work independently, and in a team setting in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision,
  • Candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job including continuous walking a spaciousfacility, lifting and moving items up to 50 lbs, the ability to ascend/descend ladders, stairs, work in confined spaces and towork in different physical positions: pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, twisting and crouching in a safe manner. There is apotential for exposure to pool chemicals, and to outdoor weather conditions.
  • In compliance with the RA’s mandatory Covid Vaccination Policy, the candidate will provide proof of full vaccinationstatus prior to the first day of employment, or proof of valid medical or religious Exemption under the Human RightsCode, and
  • The RA Centre values the safety and security of the vulnerable populations we serve. As a condition of employmentyou will be required to submit proof of a copy of a Police Reference Check for vulnerable populations that has beenissued within the last twenty-four months.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.10 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
