THE OPPORTUNITY
Scovan is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Project Controller. You take ownership of the results and to work to improve future results. This includes taking initiative, teamwork, seeking excellence, learning from mistakes, innovating, accepting feedback, and problem solving. You will provide exceptional project and team support with accuracy, efficiency and accountability.
This position reports to the Project Controls Manager.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with project team members such as project management, engineering, design, fabrication, project controls, logistics, warehousing, field construction management, accounting and document control to validate project costs, schedule and progress.
- Understand client and internal reporting requirements and policies as they relate to individual projects.
- Prepare and issue client and internal cost reporting to accurately track budget, actuals, trends, forecasts, progress, s-curves, variances and risk.
Cost Reporting
- Project Templates: Set up project reports, progress trackers, cost reports, LEMS templates, procurement templates, invoicing templates, etc. based on project pricing model and contractual obligations.
- Budgeting: Work with project management and project controls to establish WBS/CBS/Baseline Control Budgets.
- Cost Reconciliation: Perform weekly/monthly review of project cost inputs and enter cost accruals as required for reporting deadlines.
- Progress Measurement: Review progress measurement inputs and update % complete on deliverables as required.
- Forecasting: Work with project management and project controls to revise cost and labour forecasts to accurately allocate work in the remaining months of the project.
- Change Management: Maintain a log of scope, budget or schedule changes and raise change orders for approval. Update project controls system with approved change orders.
- Trend/Variance Analysis: Flag and communicate deviations from baseline, cost risk and variances.
- Reporting: Prepare and issue internal and client cost and progress reports by deadlines.
Project Scheduling
- Learn and support project scheduling activities as required by project management.
- Review, analyze, prepare and issue project schedule updates as required including noting variances to baseline.
- Coordinate and support project teams through promptly communicating any risks that may impact deadlines.
Project Analytical Support
- Assist other project controls team members, project managers and management with data entry, data analysis, cost reporting, progress reporting etc. as required.
- Maintain project controls system integrity by continually reviewing system features, configuration and functional updates.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 3 years of experience with project controls, project management, cost accounting or project administration/coordination
- University Degree or Diploma in business management, economics, accounting, or engineering is preferred.
- Competent in Excel and a high aptitude for software
- Knowledge of project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) is preferred.
- Team oriented, energetic and willing to learn.
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize workload, problem solve and resolve issues swiftly.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form
- Detail and quality oriented; Extremely organized and able to respond to changing priorities within a project deadline driven environment.
