Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all areas of the dispatch and planning functions, which may include assisting dispatch as needed.
- Implement and maintain workflow processes: update and refine processes when needed
- Provide first line of response to customer complaints, concerns etc. as they become escalated.
- Be professional and responsive to customer demands, while not compromising the safety and ethics of the company
- Manage and develop direct reports, including overall training, development, time off, and progressive discipline.
- Participate in bi-weekly Safe Service meeting to provide forecasts for business, KPI performance review, HSE performance and initiative.
- Ensure driving staff are supported on a daily basis and respond to driver escalations
- Understand and utilize company technology on a daily basis including quality and timely workflow actualization – TMW
- Ensure appropriate equipment coordination, breakdown response, work with shop on scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
- Support matters relating to Health Safety and Environment as well as Client Relations
- Ensure the daily profit and asset utilization targets are met
- Provide support and direction to driver coordinators in driver, service, safety, loss control and other daily operational challenges
- Be a “champion” for more effective work processes and documented standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Be a problem solver for daily dispatch issues, service performance and utility optimization
- Provide leadership support to sustaining and improving the RESPONSIBLE CARE ethic and the managing systems that ensure responsible care of our business operations.
- Provide clear, concise and timely communications with customers, suppliers, employees and drivers
- Continually manage and reduce costs, create a culture of ownership around costs
- Continually lead and manage driver retention programs and lead support to recruitment efforts
- Authorize expenditures, driver pay, maintenance, washes etc. within grants of authority.
- Provide first line of response to customer complaints, concerns etc. as they become escalated.
- Be professional and responsive to customer demands, while not compromising the safety and ethics of the company
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience in a Management position is required
- Experience in the transportation industry is required
- Experience with the transportation of dangerous goods is an asset
- Proven ability to deal productively with internal and external customers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Well organized, detail oriented and a proven ability to work well in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication skills – verbal and written
- High level of computer literacy
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Strong organizational skills.
