We are looking for a full-time Assistant Controller to join our Finance and Accounting Team! Working closely with the Controller and Accounting Manager, the Assistant Controller will help maintain all accounting records, information systems, and financial processes related to Sifton Properties Limited and all of its outside interests.

About The Role

• Assist with accurate and prompt completion of all accounting records and financial reports, including the month-end close, general ledger reconciliations, internal monthly financial statements and year-end consolidated financial statements for Sifton Properties Limited and all of its outside interests.
• Review and monitor business processes and controls, recommend improvements, and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency.
• Update and maintain relevant financial processes and control documentation (including flow charts and/or narratives as necessary).
• Gain an in-depth knowledge of the accounting system to support user training, adoption, and process improvement.
• Support project team with technical accounting expertise and financial process perspective during ad-hoc special projects and Company-wide initiatives.
• Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management and operations teams for decision-making support.
• Play a key role in the preparation and completion of the year-end audit.
  
  

Experience

• 3-5 years experience in an accounting, reporting, and/or assurance role.
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
• Completion of the CPA accounting designation (or equivalent) is preferred.
• Exposure to a multi-system environment, including all aspects of account analysis, reconciliation, financial statement preparation and review, and internal controls.
• Strong understanding of information systems, financial process development, and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and extensive accounting software knowledge. Experience with NetSuite is considered an asset.
• Ability to remain current and abreast of changes within the accounting profession.
• Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills, with an ability to tailor the approach to various members of the business, from front-line operations all the way up to senior management and executives.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
