Purchaser

At SMS Equipment, our Purchaser is responsible for purchasing materials, equipment, and services as required by the Acheson Head Office’s various departments. The Purchaser will ensure all requests are processed and goods are received on a timely basis, and that any services required to maintain the facility, or its equipment are ordered in a timely basis. This position is in Acheson, AB.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $75,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Sourcing and purchasing of Non O.E.M. products and supplies.
• Provide internal customers with supply quotations as required under SMS guidelines.
• Review and process purchase requisitions.
• Create purchase orders required for the daily operation of the Head Office and Remote Branches.
• Match invoices and receive computer generated purchase orders.
• Assist all branches with national accounts, and Capital Expense requests.
• Manage Vendor communication on national accounts.
• Establish and maintain product and sublets within SMS work orders for Head Office.
• Determine the purchasing needs of the organization while implementing continuous improvement solutions within supply chain.
• Maintain proper inventory levels of materials ordered on a regular basis.
• Investigate areas of opportunity for costing.
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have, or be working towards a Certification or Diploma in Supply Chain Management or Business related field and a have minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience. Additional requirements include:

• Experience in distribution, inventory management and tendering processes.
• Experience in supply sourcing, and contract and supplier performance management.
• Impeccable attention to detail and able to work within a standardized environment.
• Able to work well independently and/or part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skill and strong customer focus.
• Experience operating successfully in an ISO 9001-2000 environment is an asset.
• Supply Chain related Certificate, Diploma or Designation is preferred.
