Qualifications:
- Completed high school diploma or GED - 1 year experience in the courier services and/or mail handling industry - A certificate in defensive driving or equivalent would be considered an asset - Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work with a team - Ability to lift and transport heavy and bulky mail, packages, etc. in a safe and efficient manner and lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds - Ability to read, identify, handle and sort bundle mail with speed and accuracy - Knowledge of postal regulations, rates and related capabilities of the mail delivery service - Skilled in the safe and efficient operation of bulk mail handling equipment, machines, postage meters, etc. - Considerable knowledge of City of Edmonton including building and facility locations and supplier locations as it pertains to the position and most efficient driving routes - Excellent customer service and teamwork skills and flexibility in performing diverse activities - Ability to solve problems independently, respond quickly to changes and work calmly under tight timelines - Ability to make sound decisions independently according to policies and procedures - Strong ability to multitask and handle a high volume of work under time constraints - Strong communication, customer service, organization and prioritization skills are required - Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position - Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position.
