The City of Owen Sound is seeking a dedicated professional to fill the Service Owen Sound Representative – part-time role. This position will provide a professional front-line point of contact for all visitors to City Hall while responding to the public’s inquiries and service requests at the Service Owen Sound counter; process all forms of payments and other related entries; promptly and accurately enter details of transactions in order to provide management with accurate and complete financial data. The position will work Monday to Friday for approximately 4 to 5 hours per day and 24 hours per week.

Owen Sound is a diverse and culturally rich community located on the southern shores of Georgian Bay in Southern Ontario, approximately two hours north of Toronto, and on the doorstep of the Bruce Peninsula. Owen Sound is the largest urban community in Grey and Bruce counties, characterized by a magnificent harbour and bay, two winding rivers, tree-lined streets, an extensive parks system, and tree-covered hillsides and ravines. The City of Owen Sound municipal offices are in the City’s historic downtown core. Urban convenience is reconciled with a balanced lifestyle in this welcoming, vibrant, and growing community. The successful candidate will have a college diploma or equivalent in Accounting, Business, or a related field or a combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer. Two years of experience in a related role and strong customer service skills are required. Municipal experience is considered an asset.

• Ability to deal with the general public in a polite, courteous, pleasant, tactful and diplomatic manner and provide excellent customer service at all times.

• Possess strong computer data entry skills and have the ability to accurately handle cash

• Excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills.

• Intermediate computer skills with the ability to multi-task throughout the day on multiple software applications including Great Plains, PerfectMind, Outlook, Word, Excel, ShoreTel Communicator, and other misc. software

• Accounting principles at an entry level for balancing and daily reconciliations

• Ability to multi-task and adapt to change.

• Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Knowledge of the City of Owen Sound and/or a general municipal structure.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
