Job Summary:

The restaurant assistant manager is a key member of the management team, responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations at the Shore and the overall success of the restaurant. They work closely with the Restaurant Manager to ensure smooth operations, provide exceptional customer service, and maintain the high standards the The Shore requires.

The assistant manager will be responsible for various administrative tasks such as scheduling, inventory or EOD procedures.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing all aspects of the restaurant, including but not limited to, employee scheduling, inventory management, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service by training and coaching staff on proper service techniques, resolving customer complaints, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality and enforce compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Supervise and support the restaurant staff, including servers, bartenders, hosts/hostesses, and kitchen staff, by providing ongoing training, guidance, and feedback.
  • Assist with hiring, on-boarding, and training new employees, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their duties effectively. We hire the best of the best, and it’s imperative that the training and on-boarding reflects that.
  • Implement and enforce restaurant policies and procedures, including dress code, employee conduct, and operational guidelines.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to identify areas for improvement and implement innovative strategies, with the Restaurant Managers approval, to enhance the restaurant's performance.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with staff, customers, and vendors.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Solid problem-solving skills, with the ability to think quickly and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Proficient in using restaurant management software, POS systems, and other relevant computer applications.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting, inventory management, and food quality control.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and adapt to changing schedules and demands.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in the restaurant industry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining a positive attitude.

Required qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within the restaurant industry.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in hospitality management or a related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with local health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of labour laws and regulations related to employee management and scheduling.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and legally able to work in Canada.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods of time.
