Currently we are in need of a Flagger to join our Construction Team at our Coquitlam and Vancouver job site. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who would like to work with one of BC's most respected and proven residential and mixed-use developers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Stop, slow, and safely direct traffic through construction sites
Protect workers in the construction zone by regulating traffic flow
Give traffic control directions and signals clearly and precisely so that motorists understand their meaning
Keep the flow of traffic moving with as few delays as possible
Guide and control vehicle traffic to build a safe environment for construction/repair projects
Help notify drivers of the need for reduced speeds or restricted lane flow
Play a key role in crafting and maintaining safe construction sites
Follow safety regulations
Flagging motorists & cars to warn them of obstacles or repair work ahead
Place signs, barricades, traffic cones, and other warning devices
Respond to emergencies as directed and performing tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies
Closing the lanes in case of emergency and maintenance work
Answering questions about the detours
Contacting team members about the traffic concerns if any
Removing the barricades, traffic cones, and sign boards after completion of work.
Maintaining records of vehicles who disobey traffic signs and signals.
Using hand signals and signs to direct the traffic.
Skills and Requirements:
BCCSA Traffic Control Ticket
Previous experience as a Flagger or a similar position in the Construction industry.
High school diploma
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Ability to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including labourers, technical, professional, and upper management;
Ability to remain in a stationary position for long periods at a time
Proficiency in non-verbal communication such as hand signals, signs, and others.
Strong knowledge and understanding of traffic rules.
Ability to problem solve
Ability to lift and carry objects.
Must have own steel toe boots
