We are currently seeking a Mechanical Drafter to join our Production Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for producing detailed technical drawings and schematics that align with provided specifications and requirements, contributing to the design and development of mechanical components, systems, and products. Reporting directly to the Production Engineering Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:

Drafting and Designing:

  • Utilize CAD software to create detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics based on specifications provided by engineers or designers.

Interpreting Specifications:

  • Interpret and understand technical specifications, sketches, and rough drafts to produce accurate and detailed drawings.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure drawings meet project requirements and adhere to industry standards and regulations, and effectively communicate design intent.

Modifications and Revisions:

  • Review, modify, and revise drawings as necessary based on feedback, changes in specifications, or project requirements to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Documentation:

  • Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation to track progress and facilitate communication among team members.

Quality Assurance:

  • Conduct thorough reviews of drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design standards, identify and resolve any errors or discrepancies.

Technical Support:

  • Provide technical support and assistance to engineers, project managers, and other team members as needed, including creating documentation and assisting with troubleshooting.

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary education or equivalent certification in mechanical drafting, mechanical engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of previous experience in mechanical drafter or a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar programs
  • Strong technical drawing skills, including a solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), drafting standards, symbols, and conventions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and convey technical information clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically to resolve issues and address challenges in drafting projects.
  • Exceptional attention to details and produce high-quality work with minimal errors.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative and cooperative attitude, with a willingness to work as part of team to achieve project goals and objectives.
