Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager. This is a leadership role that requires strong management skills and the ability to maintain and strengthen the already strong position of the Vernon Farmers Market.
Manager and assitant Manager are Responsible For:
MARKET ATTENDANCE
-Attend scheduled markets (7:00 a.m. 1:30 p.m.) (approx. Mid-April - End of
October)
-Create and Send out Market Maps via email
-Assist in set-up and tear down of market equipment, including but not limited to,
pop up tents, tent weights, tables, chairs, barricades, signs, trash and
receptacles.
-Provide excellent customer service to market shoppers and vendors, answering
general questions, educate customers about the market, local food and market
programs, and assist with various needs that arise.
-Prepare Facebook, Instagram and Twitter Pictures and Postings
-Assist Market Manager with onsite duties. Sell & Count Game of Skill tickets to
Vendors.
-Distribute any Documents, Newsletters, Info, Hand-outs etc. Maintain Safety and
appearance of Market Site.
WAGE: $20/hour, 24 hours/week
POLICIES & GUIDELINES
-Meet with society president and/or directors and/or Manager to review
outstanding issues.
-Arbitrate or help solve vendor (or other) disputes (write letter, obtain legal
advice, participate in resolution discussions, etc.)
-Provide assistance to vendors as needed during setup and tear down, help to
find spaces, and troubleshoot issues as needed
-Review any vendor complaints unrelated to stall issues and inform Board of
Directors.
-Monitor vendors to assure they comply with VFM policies
-Monitor vendors to assure they comply with health regulations.
SPECIAL EVENTS/ENTERTAINMENT
-Assist in preparing for Special Events and Festivals
-Assist in organizing all special event days and other public attractions.
-Assist in special event set up (7:00am-8:00am)
AFTER MARKET/OFFICE
-Coupon Program reporting to BCAFM (June-October) Run market errands when
required.
SOCIETY PROCEDURES / MEETINGS
-Attend monthly directors' meetings to report & review responsibilities, make
recommendations & take minutes when needed.
-Prepare meeting Minutes and email minimum of 10 days prior to next scheduled
meeting.
-Assist in preparations for the VFM Annual General Meeting as required and
prepare Assistant manager's report.
-Attend, as appropriate, the annual BCAFM Annual Meeting and other regional or
provincial seminars and/or training sessions. (if applicable)
