About Us
Western’s Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry (SSMD) is a leading Canadian centre of outstanding education and research shaping health care for the next generation and is the largest and most complex faculty on campus. The Basic Medical Science Graduate & Undergraduate office consists of centralized student services that oversee the administration of the BMSc program, Neurosciences program, IMS program and the Graduate and Postdoctoral Scholars programs. Each unit is led by an Associate Dean or Academic Director.
Responsibilities
The Administrative Support I will provide administrative support for one or multiple individuals, and provide excellent customer service in all of their interactions. The incumbent will provide front-line support via telephone, in-person, and electronically to faculty, staff, students and other stakeholders, making referrals and scheduling meetings with their supervisor(s) as appropriate. The incumbent will assist with resolving general inquiries, maintaining files, organizing schedules and coordinating meetings. The incumbent will perform word processing in adherence with standard procedures, order and maintain supplies, and perform other general office functions as required by their supervisor.
Qualifications
Education:
Community College Diploma in an administrative field
Experience:
1-2 years' experience providing administrative support and customer service in an office environment
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
Strong verbal and written communication skills with careful attention to detail
Ability to work in a manner that is compliant with confidentiality requirements
Keyboarding skills with the ability to process information with high levels of accuracy
Demonstrated ability to follow through on work assignments
Knowledge of general office procedures
Ability to maintain a positive, outgoing attitude with a genuine customer service orientation
Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
Computer skills with the ability to learn and use software programs
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to create a positive impression while interacting with others and responding to inquiries, by telephone, in person or electronically
Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating work load
