About the Position:

We are looking for a Lift Technician to focus majority on our national accounts and various large municipalities. A high level of professionalism is required for the position. The role will include a large amount of out-of-town travel mostly on Vancouver Island and BC’s interior.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, inspect, and service customers' automotive lifts/hoists, wheel servicing equipment, and other garage equipment, including installations and equipment deliveries/training.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests on various equipment to ensure proper performance and inspect for faults and malfunctions.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems using hand and power tools.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance to meet manufacturers' specifications.
  • Provide customer training and demonstrations on various types of equipment for proper operation.
  • Ensure cleanliness of work area.

Requirements & Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience or certification as a lift technician, or in a similar role.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, with the ability to drive pulling a trailer for transportation of lift equipment.
  • Class 3 license preferred for additional proficiency.
  • Prior certification or experience in forklift operation.
  • Prior experience in loading, offloading, and load securement.
  • Ability to work after-hours and travel to various customer sites as required.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail.

Related Physical, & Safety Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment and tools up to 75 lbs., and push/pull up to 150 lbs.
  • Proficient in precise manipulation of small tools and components.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces and climbing onto heavy equipment.
  • Good eyesight for detailed inspections and reading technical documents.
  • Strong critical thinking for efficient troubleshooting of mechanical issues.
  • Tolerance for exposure to environmental elements during work.
  • Maintaining balance and coordination, and able to work at heights with Fall Protection equipment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with team members and managers.
  • Adequate hearing to detect equipment malfunctions in noisy environments.
  • Respiratory fitness for safe work in environments with potential exposure to hazardous substances.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and PPE usage.
  • Prioritization of physical health and safety through proper lifting techniques, and PPE usage.

Workstation, Work Environment:

You will be provided with an iPad, cellular phone, (for work purposes only), a workstation that is your own, and not shared with others, in a conventional shop environment.

A mobile workstation /company vehicle will also be provided as needed (for work purposes only). An ELD and maintenance of daily RODs are mandatory.

As part of this role, it will be necessary to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed in designated areas when on-site. This is also a requirement to gain access to customer sites and while servicing any equipment.

Location & Travel Requirements:

You will be expected to work onsite during our regular operational hours. There is anticipated travel associated with this position. Travel is assumed both locally, out of town, and occasionally overnight. When travel is necessary, a mutual agreement between both parties will be required before travel is assigned.

Employment Type & Compensation:

Westvac Industrial operates and is open standard Monday–Friday business hours. The position is fulltime and the requirement is to work between the hours of 8:00 – 4:30 (with 30 minutes for lunch, unpaid).

Compensation is dependent on prior experience and certifications and will be discussed with selected candidates.

Class 5 driver’s license and a recent drivers abstract are required. Reimbursement is available for costs associated with acquiring drivers abstracts.

A CSA Approved work boot allowance is also available.

Salary: $27.00-$34.00 per hour
