What You Will Do: The Web Backend Test Automation Engineer is responsible for the quality of the cloud services that power the SketchUp desktop, mobile and web clients. Your primary focus will be the design and development of tests, picking suitable technologies and working out how they should be integrated into our CI/CD pipeline. You will get the chance to deliver solutions that make a real difference to the productivity of your team and ensure a reliable customer experience. Managing the QA process for numerous small web services. Verification of issues and logging of issues found in a defect tracking system. Manually testing newly introduced features that cannot be comprehensively tested with test automation, reproducing customer issues, and ensuring quality of the SketchUp suite of products. Development and execution of internal test plans and test cases according to project timelines and project deliverables. Development of test automation scripts for testing our web APIs in JavaScript, Java or Python. Development and maintenance of performance testing frameworks for web APIs. Managing automation test suites and report status. Work with the DevOps team to ensure tests run as part of our CI/CD pipeline. Managing the deployment process for numerous web services. Review design documents to ensure test-ability of new features as well as the quality of the designs. What Skills & Experience You Should Bring: BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. Solid automation experience or 3 years of experience in manual software testing in web environments and a strong desire to learn web automation technologies. Strong willingness and ability to learn and grow on the job. At least basic understanding of JavaScript, Java, Python or a comparable modern programming language. Detail-oriented way of working; being able to scrutinize complex technical products. Understanding of common Test Automation best practices. Familiarity with common commercial software development best practices. Strong analytical and problem solving skills and eager to learn new technologies. Ability to work efficiently, independently and as part of a team. Good verbal communications and organization skills. Bonus Skills/Experience Experience with Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform. Familiarity with microservice development in an enterprise environment. Understanding of RESTful API design patterns and best practices. Familiarity with automation frameworks like Cypress.io or REST Assured.
