This mission includes providing support and services to adults in custody at the two Multnomah County Jails and those on monitored release while awaiting trial. MCSO’s Programs Unit sits at the heart of this work, and employs a variety of staff members that collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve common goals. MCSO is seeking two (2) highly motivated leaders with an excellent track record to join our team as Programs Unit Supervisors. As a Programs Unit Supervisor, you will be in charge of co-leading and supervising a team of corrections counselors and corrections technicians working at two distinct facilities. You will be responsible for maintaining day-to-day operations within the unit, monitoring processes to ensure compliance with legal obligations, and connecting directly with staff to monitor performance, set goals, and address any issues that may arise. Both Programs Unit Supervisors will work collaboratively with each other and the Unit Manager to promote a positive work environment and ensure successful outcomes for the individuals in our care. Principal Responsibilities Provide individual and team-based supervision to Programs Unit staff at the Multnomah County Detention Center and the Multnomah County Inverness Jail for the purpose of ensuring quality of service delivery to clients; compliance with policies, procedures, and work rules; compliance with job performance expectations and accountability; and opportunities for professional development. Identify and address equity issues in order to better support Program Unit staff, contract staff, and clients. Develop, revise, and/or maintain efficient workflows; policies and procedures; and data collection practices. Work directly with Programs Unit staff, sworn staff and community partners to manage current programs for adults in custody, including the Treatment Readiness Dorm, Medication Supported Recovery, and Pathways to Employment. Engage in program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation with community partners, and internal and external stakeholders. Represent MCSO and the Programs Unit on committees and workgroups. You may provide subject matter expertise consultation to internal executive staff, elected officials, and external agencies and departments on issues pertaining to programming and services for clients. Work Location Each Programs Supervisor will have a principal office at the Multnomah County Detention Center or the Multnomah County Inverness Jail. Some travel between facilities may be required. Because this position involved supervision of staff working within secure facilities, most work is completed on site. Ad-hoc (occasional) telework may be available. Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills* Three (3) years of experience in a lead or supervisory role that demonstrates strong, collaborative leadership abilities is required. Such as: Supervising or leading personnel; or Developing and managing collaborative projects with multiple stakeholders; or Using data to analyze or evaluate program performance; or Developing new programs or initiatives. Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Additional qualifying experience can substitute education on a year for year basis.
