Overview Applies paints, varnishes, stains to the walls, doors, and frames, and asphalt on the inside and outside of hospital facilities as well as some equipment and furniture. Prepares working areas by moving furniture and spreading drop clothes; prepares surfaces for refurbishment by removing wallpaper/paint, washing, scraping, sanding and filling holes, cracks and joints where appropriate. Performs minor repairs to, and reattaches, wallpaper, installation of signage, floor tile, cove base and stair tread replacement while utilizing the appropriate equipment in compliance with safety protocol. What you will do Completes work orders by preparing all types of surfaces to include repairing/removing old paint, wallpaper, and debris from walls, doors, frames, and asphalt. Prepares area for painting, such as moving or covering furniture and fixtures, taping, and laying down drop clothes. Makes repairs to walls, cracks, and joints. Ensure the proper mixture of all materials being applied and utilizes the appropriate procedures, methods of application, and tools and equipment. Inspects, replaces, and repairs cove base, wall protection, ceiling and floor tiles, corner guards, and stair tread. Inventories paint equipment and supplies. Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs ensuring the beautification and upkeep of the Facility. Perform preventative maintenance inspections/tasks per defined interval/schedule in a timely manner and document maintenance concerns/resolutions; providing action plans and status reports as needed. Recognizes and corrects potential equipment failure or unsafe conditions and communicates this to the Facility Services Supervisor. Has a general knowledge of DNV, NFPA, AADMS, ADA, OSHA, local, state and federal codes, requirements or regulations and is in accordance with Riverside policies and procedures. Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, safety glasses, mask, hearing protection, and gloves as needed. Stores paint and related chemicals in accordance with the Company safety policies. Operate and maintain a variety of work-related tools and equipment such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, and various hand tools required for prepping and painting surfaces. Responsible for proper care/cleaning of tools, parts, materials, and work area. Performs/Assists co-workers outside of related skill when required during manning short falls or in an Emergency situation to include but not limited to: General Facility Maintenance, Plumbing, Electrical, and/or Heating/Air Conditioning work. Snow Removal. Assist other departments/units in times of Disaster.
