Electro-Neurodiagnostic (EEG) Technician, Weekend On Call, Respiratory

Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an EEG Tech for our Respiratory Unit who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing. As an EEG Tech you will: • Prepare patients for EEG examination; Ensure patient safety at all times; Process EEG data and results; Clean and maintain machine between tests. • Operate EEG machine during tests; Perform EEG studies by using the proper electrode placement and technique as specified by the American EEG Society. • Determines locations to place electrodes on patient's head; marks locations on patient's head. Attaches electrodes to marked locations on patient's head; ensures that electrode leads are connected correctly. • Reports findings or concerns to reading physician for prompt interpretation; Maintains patient data and enters it into patient EMR. • Review procedure with patients giving all the required instructions as contained in the departmental policy and procedure manual to facilitate testing. • Consult with physician and perform photic stimulation, hyperventilation, eye opening and closing, auditory and somatosensory stimuli. • Demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; having knowledge of normal growth and development, and having an understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patient population served in the department as identified in the job description. Qualifications include: • High School diploma or GED • EEG certification • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required • Experience with NICU, PEDS & adult EEGs preferred • Willing to obtain ACLS certification within one year of full-time employment • Strong customer service skills • Ability to handle multi task environment • Min. 25 wpm typing preferred. • Basic PC skills such as Windows NT, and computerized EEG equipment preferred.
