We protect Verizon Media and its users from criminal and advanced attackers. We ensure that our users are kept safe from scams and account hijacking. We also keep our services free of unsafe and illegal content, including that which affects children.

You are an experienced, highly motivated security analyst who will use Verizon Media internal tools and other systems to detect and respond to security events. You know how to protect sensitive corporate and user data from unauthorized access at Internet scale and will apply advanced technical, behavioral, and investigative solutions to find evil and ensure that Verizon Media data remains secure.

What you can do for Verizon Media

  • Monitor and analyze security events from networks, applications, hosts, and databases

  • Proactive research and identification of security anomalies

  • Investigate network traffic and logs to identify security incidents

  • Coordinate with and escalate security incidents to the Paranoids FIRE (Incident Response) Team

  • Assess security incidents and assist Verizon Media business units to remediate issues

  • Work with a variety of security technologies including IDS, firewalls, EDR, etc

  • Contribute to and follow activities defined in SOC policies and SOC procedures

  • Assist in the creation of automation playbooks for SOC tasks

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Information Security, Computer Science, or other technical field

  • A passion for the field of information security and incident response.

  • Strong defensive security fundamentals including network and host forensics, log analysis, and basic malware triage

  • Understanding of common network services (web, mail, FTP, etc), network vulnerabilities, and attack patterns

  • Experience with Splunk (or similar) Security Information and Event Monitoring (SIEM) solution

  • Experience with networking protocols, network architecture, firewalls, Intrusion Detection (Suricata) and network analysis (Moloch) systems

  • Functional experience with Windows, Mac and Linux systems and services

  • An ability to work independently and communicate via technology

  • Enthusiastic and outgoing personality with a high degree of integrity

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to present complex, technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Solid organizational skills and strong customer service skills

Desired Qualifications

  • Functional experience with workflow automation platforms and strategy

  • Understanding of endpoint forensics and MAC/Linux system architecture

  • Experience with EDR technologies and investigating events at the endpoint
