Demand Planner/ Demand Manager

POSITION SUMMARY The Demand Planner supports the business by ensuring that we have the best forecast possible, and works with the Principal positions, Global Manufacturing and Supply to achieve optimal customer service levels, inventory levels and profitability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage the introduction and discontinuation process through the designated supply chain systems Ensure the item is set up through the supply chain agreement process, and the parameters are approved by the principal, where applicable Ensure the Safety stock levels, dating attributes, maximum inventory levels, forecast consumption logic and other attributes are accurate Negotiate SCA supply chain parameters in accordance with agreed corporate inventory targets, working capital objectives and customer service levels In conjunction with Plants and the Principal, Manage the objective inventory levels to ensure we are optimizing the inventory carrying costs. Monitor the item set up / discontinuation process through the global supply chain systems Support the Demand, Sales and Inventory (DSI) processes: Forecasting Analyze demand histories Provide initial system forecasts including the review of assumptions regarding forecast parameters and identification of improvement opportunities Utilize all features of the system features to improve the statistical forecast. Assist Product Managers in the development of their management forecasts, to ensure a two-way dialog. Understanding the following concepts: how we go to market, species, products, pricing, promotions and competition. Document any significant forecast changes and or rationale Report on both the Product managers / Demand Planners forecast accuracy for both bias and error over time. Review the metrics of the forecast attainment by SKU each day Review with customer service any extreme orders, follow up with Marketing / Sales where appropriate Reconcile forecast to financial budget / forecast, and highlighting differences to management Inventory Plan Review inventory plans based on agreed service levels and stock out parameters, capacity constraints and identify opportunities to improve product supply for the short- and long-term views in dialog with the Principal Communicate to Marketing any potential backorders or supply concerns in order to potentially adjust other impacted SKU’S and to aid in the communication to the organization Monitor the inventory on Q (lot status) of all products in the market to ensure timely release Monitor the product transfers to ensure product supply Review potential scrap concerns with Marketing and implement any plan of action in order to reduce any financial write off exposure Support the Short Supply Support the Distribution Resource Planning process, the replenishment of multiple warehouses in country: Ensure that inventory is allocated optimally among the DC’s to minimize spot outages Review inventory levels based on customer and product dating requirements Support Sales and Marketing activities during periods of significant order activity (during fiscal close, or start or end of a promotion, or price increase) Review orders of significant volume with Marketing to minimize stock outs and to allow for substitutions or other changes. Support the Local / Regional and Global SOP process Conduct the local Market SOP / DSI process with the Marketing and manufacturing sites Assist with the regional and Global SOP process Participate in Cross Functional teams as required Product Launches, product transfers, packaging / label changes or other Regulatory changes EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Animal Science or a related field. Other preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in any of the disciplines listed above. APICS/ASCM certification. EXPERIENCE: <5 years of Supply Chain/Forecast experience for Demand Planner 5 or 10 years of Supply Chain / Forecast experience for Demand Manager Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including MRP II theory. Knowledge of the animal health industry. TECHNICAL SKILLS and COMPETENCIES REQUIRED Strong knowledge and practical experience of Forecasting, production, inventory and planning concept Strong knowledge and practical experience in utilizing analytical tools, spreadsheets and databases Ability to conceptualize, analyze and data in support of improving customer service, inventory management, and business alignment. Demonstrated ability to function and influence in a team matrix environment and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Advanced PC and systems skills. Strong oral and written presentation skills including effective persuasion abilities.
