Description
The Director of Technology is responsible for a wide variety of projects that span all campuses and ministries of 12Stone Church. This person is responsible for all aspects of technology implementations across the enterprise, with the singular exception of Production related (AVL) equipment. Most day-to-day functions are carried out by outsourced companies (JRG and WOV) and managed via ticketing systems. This position will require strong interpersonal skills, a broad understanding of ministry operations, and the capacity to interact and coordinate with a wide variety of technical specialists.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities:
KRA #1 IT Infrastructure & End Point Management
Architecture, cyber-security defenses, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans for approximately $2MM of digital assets.
Private WAN between 9 locations provided through Charter/Spectrum
Enterprise-wide Fortinet security systems (Firewalls, switches, network management, monitoring, and analytics). WAP’s and controllers for corporate and guest WiFi. Subnets allocated to Production, Facilities, and Café POS
VoiP Phone System (FortiVoice Enterprise)
Redundant 1.5 petabyte Synology NAS for video storage/archive, and other enterprise backup systems
HP Proliant server with HyperV for virtualization and redundant Synology NAS for server backups
Oversight of primary enterprise solutions (Office365, OneDrive, etc.)
KRA #3 Church/Enterprise Management System
The primary system used to track all church-related activity is a self-hosted 40-Core Windows SQL Server using a suite of tools delivered primarily by a contracted SW development team. This includes:
Event Registration and Check-in
Group registration and management
Online Giving and Contribution Management
Twilio Short Code, Custom Forms, and Engagements (personalized staff follow-up tracking)
Background Checks & Liability Waivers
Staff tools for targeted email and texting
Internal Campus Order Management System
KRA #4 Staff Support (Helpdesk)
The ongoing ministries of 12Stone require 7-day a week operational helpdesk for staff training and technical support. Various ticketing applications are used to track incidents and projects from start to finish. The Director of Technology (and staff) provide Level One support for the majority of staff ministry needs. JRG provides Level One support for most HW needs. WoV provides level two support for SW issues. Resources and priorities are then set for JRG and WOV for level two support and beyond.
KRA #5 Web and Mobile App
The 12Stone technology stack includes multiple independent WordPress sites (hosted and maintained by Communications and Marketing), a custom-built main site (12Stone.com), custom-built web apps (12Stone.Church), multiple microsites, and a mobile app. The mobile app (iOS and Android) is built by WOV and includes multiple staff tools that are governed by security roles and allocated based on job function.
KRA #6 Metrics and Reporting
All primary business metrics are maintained in a digital warehouse and accessible via standard Business Intelligence tools for analytics. While some ministries self-report their localized activity, all relevant corporate data is gathered and protected as the MDM for all top-level reporting.
KRA #7 Strategic Thinking for Ministry & Technology
By its very nature, the local church is comprised of many independent groups of staff, lay leaders, and volunteers who are constantly innovating and introducing new systems and processes. Legacy systems abound and are often difficult to eliminate. There is constant pressure to control “Shadow IT” and the use of free public domain apps that are not integrated with the 12Stone technology stack. Therefore, the Director of Technology must be an influencer and thought leader relating to ministry discussions and ministry processes regarding future trends and current projects throughout the enterprise.
The Director of Technology is expected to contribute to the continuous improvement of the systems and processes for ongoing ministry operations and has other duties as assigned
