Job Description: The primary responsibility of the Quality Check Officer is to be familiar with Epiq’s contractual style guidelines and to conduct pre delivery check for accuracy, style and content reviews on transcripts, highlighting and escalating to the Transcription Manager any transcripts which do not meet quality requirements. The purpose of the role is to ensure Epiq quality of transcripts are consistently at high standards with the capability to improve the client experience with Epiq by ensuring that Epiq consistently meets client SLAs relating to transcript quality. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES To be familiar with Epiq client style guidelines to identify errors and inconsistencies To conduct style, formatting, content, and inaudible checks on completed transcript files, making use of audio and any supporting materials, including glossaries and lists of names Do final visual checks on completed transcripts Review transcripts that have client complaints to identify errors where necessary Stay up to date with changes to style and format requirements Where quality is of concern, to provide feedback report on each transcript to the Transcription Manager, highlighting areas which fall short of desired quality and providing constructive feedback to be passed on to the transcriber and/or coordinator. To use a checklist identifying issues and to update the checklist on a regular basis Where a pre-delivery transcript check identifies significant errors, to conduct word for word checks as appropriate in order to produce amended, client-ready file and tracked changes document when required To work effectively as part of a team, recognise areas where support is required. To be flexible and adaptable in approach To take an active role in personal development and frequently review individual objectives To attend training sessions as appropriate/required and continually build on area of expertise To be able to self-motivate and support other team members To communicate positively at all levels Produce high quality transcript in accordance with delivery deadlines Proofread all transcripts prior to submission Utilise all available supporting information to ensure accurate transcription Undertake cross-training on a variety of jurisdictions as directed by the business Maintain familiarity with all production tools (TOPS/macros etc) Maintain productivity levels as directed by the business Maintain close communication with other transcribers and Transcript Manager/Team Leaders and Coordinators Partake in periodic performance reviews with Transcript Manager Partake in annual security and compliance training Ability to work outside standard business hours if required Ensure communications are clear, concise, and in line with business requirements Foster and promote a safe and healthy work environment, maintaining safe work practices at all times, and to work within and comply with Company safety policies and procedures SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS Strong eye for detail Typing speed of 70 wpm Good general knowledge Excellent English grammar skills Audio listening skills Some experience in proofreading or editing preferred Ability to work accurately under pressure Ability to work to deadlines Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office Familiarity with current transcription software Ability to identify continuous improvement and innovation opportunities in processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
