KTVU is seeking candidates for a Studio Technician. Primary duties will include professional operation of electronic equipment used in connection with television broadcasting for the generation of the aural and visual TV signal in conformance to station policies and practices. Operate Master Control, TOC (Technical Operations Center) and other areas that contain automated equipment. Grass Valley iTX in live/manual situations with multiple channels. Duties include commercial ingest, segmenting shows from multiple sources, tuning in live shots from ENG/SNG trucks in the field as well as satellite programming, bonded cellular devices (LiveU), breaking news support, and emergency news crawls. Will be responsible for quality of products, Tower Light observations, EAS tests, Closed Captioning, station logs, FCC transmitter compliance and reporting for multiple channels. This position requires flexible schedules that may include any of three shifts, weekends and holidays. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous television Master Control experience in an automated environment is required. Must be skilled in on-air automation and file based ingest, transfer and playback functions. Must communicate clearly and work well with other departments. Must be able to operate personal computers and various software programs; such as Outlook, Microsoft Office, and others. Flexibility with new technology is a must.
