Job Description
We are seeking an energetic and well-organized banquet captain to provide our customers with a first-class banquet experience. As a banquet captain, you will liaise with the Director of Events to meet customer expectations. Your duties will include controlling the quality of services, preparing the venue, and coordinating the service of meals for our banquets.
To be a successful Banquet Captain, you should exhibit extensive experience in managing banquets and delivering services, while taking initiative and being a self-starter. Outstanding Banquet Captains ensure that customers receive a level of service that exceeds expectations.
Key Areas of Responsibilities Duties:
- Discussing Banquet Event Order (BEO) with the Director of Events.
- Relaying BEO details to Banquet Staff and Bartender(s).
- Supervising the placement of tables, chairs, cutlery, plates, glasses, table linens, centerpieces, heating lamps, serving utensils, and buffet stations.
- Consulting with the Director of Events and Chef regarding the timing of meal courses to be served.
•Overseeing bar and bartenders. Ensuring bar set up is accurate per each event and making sure the bartender is clear on the event bar details.
- Overseeing the seating of guests, the serving of meals and beverages, and the clearing of tables.
- Managing the availability of liquor and soft drinks, when required.
- Answering customers' questions and accommodating special requests.
- Managing Bartenders and Banquet Staff, inclusive of directing banquet team during the events.
- Working with Director of Events to develop and provide staff with the necessary training, including customer service and serving etiquette.
- Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, and on weekends and holidays.
Skills Assets Preferred:
- High School Diploma
- 1-2 years of experience in banquet management, or similar preferred.
- Exceptional ability to plan banquets and meet deadlines.
- Experience in supervising banquet venue staff.
- Extensive knowledge of catering equipment and venue requirements.
- In-depth knowledge of hospitality industry best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
