JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST
General Summary:
Individual who is an analytical and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be
responsible to processing accounts payable transactions as well as other support functions for the accounting department.
Research and/or process exception items and balance or analyze credit union records for accuracy, recommending remedial
measures. Provide member service and guidance to members, branches, internal departments, and other Financial
Institutions with routine to moderately complex accounts payable related inquiries.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
§ Posting invoices accurately and timely.
§ Preparing payments in accordance with company policies.
§ Filling and organizing financial documents to ensure easy access and compliance.
§ Regular contact and dealing with suppliers, maintaining strong and professional relationships.
§ Performing related reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
§ Duties may include one or more of the following functions:
§ Accounts Payable: Codes invoices and vouchers with proper account distribution.
§ Knowledge of AP vendors (including W8, W9, and 590/587) tax reporting
§ Knowledge of fixed assets and prepaid records.
§ Prepare 1099 year-end reporting.
§ Research and process adjustments including journal entries.
§ Record month-end accruals.
§ Provide coverage for some functions within the department.
§ Responsible for investigating and resolving discrepancies.
§ Complete all assigned training and follow all credit union policies regarding compliance issues.
§ Coordinate with internal auditors as required for periodic examinations.
§ Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Skills and Abilities Required:
§ Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
§ Good written and verbal communication.
§ Able to handle confidential matters judiciously.
§ Possesses attention to detail with excellent follow-through.
§ Good time management skills.
§ Proficient in MS Office and other basic computer software.
Qualification:
§ Accounting or other related experience at a financial institution or credit union preferred.
§ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
