The Department of Information Technology has an exciting opportunity for a Director of Information Technology to work in Coral Gables, FL. The Director, Information Technology is a motivated and organized technology leader who is responsible for the partnership and delivery of innovative, scalable, high-quality solutions incorporating digital transformation and enterprise development standards. This role includes leadership responsibilities with a focus on iterative delivery following agile methodology best practices, as well as promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. The incumbent in this position directs internal teams in the planning and execution of initiatives as they relate to digital transformation, and strategic IT initiatives. Through partnerships and community engagement, there is a focus on supporting digital innovation at the University. Department Specific Functions Digital Transformation Strategy and Planning Understands complex business needs, processes, strategies, and objectives to identify opportunities for technology improvement and/or innovation. Works directly with senior leaders and constituents to identify and address digital transformation needs. Lead business proposal development for highest value opportunities. Maintains an overview of market trends, emerging technologies, and unmet organizational needs; provide thought leadership for key digital initiatives and create succinct, compelling material to ensure clear communication across the enterprise. Presents complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences including senior leaders. Provides systems and architecture expertise in areas of digital transformation. Maintains proficiency and certifications with the technologies required and the application systems assigned. Digital Transformation Program and Pipeline Management Manages a portfolio of digital transformation initiatives, working across multiple teams to support University initiatives. Track and report on KPIs, communicating momentum of projects and value gained from programs with regular updates and project briefs. Identifies gaps, captures emerging opportunities, and supports expansion of digital. transformation strategies through new programs and partnership activities. Balances competing priorities and complex digital initiatives. Supports the development of programs, tools, roadmaps, and protocols to operationalize ideas into digital innovations, proactively identifying roadblocks to delivery, and advances projects toward key milestones in an efficient way. Facilitates and continuously improves the core processes for managing an innovation project portfolio and driving team collaboration. Execute programs such as internships, accelerators, hackathons, workshops, and community group meetings to nurture a pipeline of collaboration and mentoring, while aligning strategic value between the organization and participants. Manages a portfolio of services, including but not limited to ideation, prototyping, business analysis, pilot readiness, and quality assurance (QA) testing. Collaboration Helps to determine new and creative methods to collaborate on projects and initiatives. Advises and works with other IT teams, serving as a bridge between various groups to accomplish a goal. Promotes a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, a commitment to quality and accountability to deliver high-quality solutions. Cultivate a community and culture of innovation by continuously getting to know the University’s constituents. Core Job Functions Supervises the performance management of all assigned staff, including making decisions as they pertain to hiring, training, evaluation, promotion, and termination. Manages daily operations and directs staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Assumes responsibility for campus-wide initiatives involving computer support services. Develops, promotes, and maintains standards as they relate to technical support services and devices, including manufacturing and architectural standards. Designs improved work systems by revising work standards, policies, and procedures. Directs and manages project plan development, risk assessment, communications, budget tracking, status reporting, vendor management, and successful project completion. Manages projects with support staff by giving them a clear understanding of the departmental mission. Monitors project prioritization, active projects, and the development of dashboard and reporting mechanisms. Assumes responsibility for enterprise-wide IT projects and ensures an efficient and timely conclusion. Contributes to strategic plan and assists in providing short- and long-term solutions to help meet campus-wide strategic and tactical planning initiatives. Communicates with administration and staff regarding the efficient and timely delivery of services. Performs follow-up investigations on inquiries, complaints, and problems. Assists in the determination of critical milestones. Seeks ways to improve operations and oversees the preparation of productivity reports. Establishes departmental goals and objectives, identifies areas of improvement, and implements action plans to meet these. Attends professional meetings, workshops, conferences, and seminars to keep abreast of technological market advancements. Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in related field Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered. Managing or participating in a full application development lifecycle. Working in a fast-paced environment while managing simultaneous projects. Learning and implementing new technologies. Agile background. Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Excellent leadership and organizational skills.
