The Department of Atmospheric Science at The Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science at the University of Miami has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Post Doctoral Associate in the general area of climate change, with a focus on improving our understanding of the coupled response of the hydrological cycle, radiative feedbacks, and the large-scale atmospheric and oceanic circulation. Our research group uses satellite data sets and in situ observations along with coupled ocean-atmosphere models to diagnose and improve our understanding of key radiative and hydrologic processes. A successful candidate will conduct original research, write manuscripts for publication, participate in professional meetings, and collaborate with faculty and graduate students at the University of Miami, Princeton University, and other institutions. The position will also encourage candidates to develop and pursue their own areas of research interest. Qualified applicants should have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or a relevant field, a strong mathematics and physics background, excellent writing and speaking skills, and strong programming abilities. Experience analyzing large satellite data sets and/or model simulations is also desirable. The position can start immediately, though the starting date is negotiable based on mutual interest. The initial appointment will be for one year and renewable depending on availability of funding for two additional years. Salary is competitive based on experience and qualifications.
