POSITION: Food Safety and Quality Assurance Technician
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Monitors production processes of the facility to ensure all products meet company quality and food safety requirements during plant operations to ensure compliance with all company, regulatory and Global Food Safety Initiative standards. (The Rover must be willing to cover other shifts to account for Vacations and absences)
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Support QA manager and Supervisor
- Collecting, preparing and/or testing samples.
- Keeping an accurate and legible record of all testing completed.
- Recording, analyzing data and presenting results.
- Reviews production records (real-time on the production floor) to ensure all paperwork is complete and accurate as production goes on and on daily basis;
- Corrects deviations in a timely manner to minimize loss and avoid non-compliant products are shipped.
- Maintaining and cleaning QA equipment.
- Monitor all processing areas for food safety conditions, ensuring sanitary conditions are always maintained in the production area.
- Control and maintain company food safety and QA programs
- Conduct and perform training activities related to food.
- Assure all product is being produced according to specifications at all times
- Support all Quality Assurance activities related to 3 Fish, SQF, FDA, and other regulatory food safety standards.
- This role will be required to perform tasks associated with GMP’s, SSOP, HACCP, and continuous improvement programs.
- Must have flexibility in schedule to account for the times when they are asked to cover other shifts.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
REQUIREMENT
Must be well versed in MS-Windows
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Food Technology or related field.
- Eager and willing to learn.
- Flexibility required.
- Sound work ethic, honesty, and moral character.
- Have good attendance
- Be willing to be cross-trained and learn all tasks in the QA department.
- Know how to effectively manage time to complete all assigned tasks.
- Organized, attention to detail, and tenacious in problem-solving
- Able to work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
- Ability to work unsupervised and be self-motivated.
- Must be able to work occasional off-shift and weekend hours
- Food manufacturing experience required.
- Good computer and database application skills. (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work within timelines and in pressure situations.
- Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
- Be able to communicate effectively with other hourly employees, plant management, and USDA personnel.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- May handle product 25 degrees to 120 degrees Fahrenheit.
- May be exposed to noise ranges of 50 dB to 110 dB.
- May be exposed to chemicals used in the processing facility.
- Exposure ingredients and allergens used in the processing facility.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the position as directed by 3 Fish.
· Able to freely move for the duration of shift.
- When in a plant environment: Exposure primarily consists of wet and moist floors which include metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- May be exposed to temperatures of 28 degrees to 85 degrees Fahrenheit with ambient humidity.
