Business Unit: Cubic Mission and Performance Solutions Company Details: Job Summary: Manages and controls digital design engineering activities through lower level Engineering Leads. Provides functional management and supervisory role for electrical engineering group. Acts as liaison between engineering and customers/other departments. Assists in the development of overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization. Provides technical consultation. Establishes and monitors work priorities and schedules. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: • Manages Electrical Engineering Leads and engineering staff • Establishes plans, objectives, policies and procedures for an engineering unit • Acts as liaison with other managers and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, scheduling requirements, or contractual clarification • Plans, conducts, technically directs and tracks progress of projects • Makes project assignments • Provides guidance to subordinates based on organizational goals and Company policies • Acts as an advisor to staff on all matters related to meeting schedules or resolving technical or cost problems • Manages exempt employees in performance of work; conducts performance evaluations and recommends salary adjustments and personnel actions to include hiring, discipline, recognition and termination • Motivates, delegates, coaches and trains subordinates • Develops and administers budgets, schedules and performance standards • Prepares or assists in the preparation of the departmental budget • Plans and designs the development of hardware equipment • Develops hardware requirements and hardware specifications • Coordinates the integration, installation, operation and application of equipment • Provides finished device approval • Ensures conformance with configuration management documentation requirements including engineering change proposal submittals • Maintains control of costing information including project authorizations, status reporting and subcontract acquisition • Conducts briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives • Prepares program management plan inputs • Supports engineering program reviews and audits • Participates in customer contract negotiations • Directs fact-finding in support of proposal development, to include cost and schedule estimates • Keeps abreast of new technologies and new techniques • Participates in total quality management/continuous process improvement teams Minimum Job Requirements: Four-year college degree in electrical engineering or related science discipline plus a minimum of eight years managerial experience, with four years supervisory experience. Experience in electrical engineering and exercising creativity in technical direction and successful strategy development. Ability to interpret technical contract requirements. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, interface with customers, subcontractors and vendors, and deal with employees and managers at all levels in manufacturing, engineering and other departments.
