What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, UX & Content position at 3PL Central?

The Role:
The Director of UX & Content will be a manager-practitioner role. Reporting to the VP of Product you will work closely with the Product Managers and other team leaders across various parts of the organization. This role is ideal for someone who is ready to take on the challenge of leadership and manage a team of rockstar designers and content folks, while still executing as a hands-on practitioner on key design initiatives. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the UX and in-Product content strategy and execution for all Extensiv products.
What You Will Do:
- As a manager, you will
- Manage a team of UX designers, researchers, and Content team members
- Provide technical direction, mentorship and guidance to the team
- Guide the team in their skill development by leveraging your experience and expertise
- Collaborate with the team in making day to day design and project decisions
- Ensure planning and timely execution of deliverables with exceptional quality outcomes
- As a practitioner, you
- Understand product specifications
- Understand and can execute on content design
- Conduct concept and usability testing and gather feedback. Create user personas through research and based on an understanding of user psychology
- Have a STRONG ability to communicate visually
- Should be able to Document design thinking and solutions in a wide range of software tools including Spreadsheets, Word docs, Slides, Napkin drawings, Whiteboards, etc.
- Understand the UX process well enough to improvise and adapt within it
- Can develop wireframes and prototypes around customer needs
- Can find creative ways to solve UX problems
- Can communicate design ideas and prototypes to Product Managers and developers
- As a leader, you will
- Understand Extensiv's strategic and competitive position in the market and work with the team to deliver products that are recognized as industry best
- Maximize efficiency of the team in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm
- Strategically align with other leaders and Product Managers on the delivery of interdependent solutions and initiatives
You Bring/Are:
- 5 years of hands-on UX design experience for customer facing software products
- 2 years’ experience leading Design and Content teams
- Experience with creation of Software products from 'scratch, as well as addition of features and maintenance of existent software
- Experience w/ creation and application of design systems
- Experience administering user research and working with content design
- Experience scaling the maturity of product design by making sure design is truly embedded in the product dev lifecycle (starting with discovery) and setting the strategy for the team
- Experience working in an Agile environment with SaaS products and architecture
- Experience working directly with customers to define problems and discover solution
- STRONG experience in Adobe XD, Figma, etc.

- Wireframing, Dynamic Prototyping, Micro interactions, User Flows
- Know a bit about Restful APIs, Databases, JSon, etc.
- Understand Design Libraries (We use Bootstrap, but Vue, React, Angular, etc. are applicable) You don't have to be an expert (although expertise would certainly be a plus)
