Description

Work Schedule and Hours: Monday – Friday 7:00am-5:00pm (additional hours and days as needed based on the needs of the business which would include weekends and after hours)

Type of position: Full-time, Exempt

Position Summary:  Supervise staff and activities of the Rialto container yard. Ensure equipment in and out of the yard is operated within the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory guidelines and company policies to deliver containers safely and on time.   Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance to provide direct and immediate support to the CEO while overseeing the daily responsibilities of the operations group.  Review empirical data to continuously make recommendations and implement action plans to maximize operational efficiency by measurable means.

High Payoff Activities (in order of importance):

1.    Manage and direct the operational staff to include Dispatch, Drivers, and Security Personal daily to maximize operation efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance. Oversee of safe, timely, and cost-effective movement of cargo and materials through the utilization of people, equipment, and technology to meeting the expectations of DSL customers. (40%)
2.    Enforce adherence to compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations. (25%)
3.    Develop and review all operation report data and communicate observations to employees and other members of management in a timely and accurate manner. Continuously assess processes and procedure, recommend changes, and implement “best practices” to continually improve operational performance and interdepartmental synergy. (15%)
4.    Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, motivating, developing, evaluating, and disciplining of all operations team members, as required. Develop, build and inspire a workplace culture of Safety, customer focus, employee commitment and operational excellence (10%)
5.    Ensure the safety and security of individuals, vehicles, and equipment on the container yard. Monitor the security cameras for the Container Yard and address issues. (5%)
6.    Assist with P&L forecasting and champion fiscal compliance. (5%)

Other Tasks: 

•   Perform other management and administrative duties as needed. 

•    Ensure Gate Personnel properly check equipment in and out of the yard and enter container inventory data.
•    Ensure each Security shift is properly covered and make required changes to ensure 24/7 coverage.
•    Utilize the Truckmate and Mobile communication systems to perform driver performance monitoring and trip reporting functions
•    Maintain a harassment free atmosphere where teamwork, communication, customer service, and a strong commitment to the company’s goals and culture are observed in the efficient movement of cargo.
•    Interact with internal and external customers during escalated incidents through email and phone conversations as needed to provide an exceptional level of service.
•    Hold weekly operations staff meetings to address concerns or implement changes.
•    Attend and participate in quarterly safety and management meetings. 

Qualifications


ESSENTIAL AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION OR UNIQUE REQUIREMENTS (EXPERIENCE, FORMAL TRAINING, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSING, SPECIFIC ABILITIES OR SKILLS): 

Must be a highly motivated, results oriented, self-starter with 5+ years of trucking experience; college degree is preferred. Must possess relevant industry knowledge to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, FMCSA guidelines, and other DOT related laws and regulations. Must be able to communicate (both verbally and in writing) and demonstrate interpersonal skills in a professional, respectful manner to get required results, Fluent in English and Spanish preferred. Must be able to set the example for the operational staff pertaining to company goals and core values. Must be able to develop strong working relationships with 4 GEN employees, drivers, and customers. Must be able to demonstrate advanced MS Office usage, multitasking, and prioritization abilities. Must be able to work any shift, including weekends, and be able to travel occasionally and respond to after hour calls based on the needs of the business. Must possess a basic knowledge of trucks, trailers and related equipment. Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance. 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL CAPABILITIES:

Must be able to sit for up to 10 hours using a keyboard and monitor. Must be able to easily ascend and descend stairs. Must be able to work independently and remain calm in a loud, fast paced, and high-pressure environment. Must be able to identify color differences of cells on spreadsheets. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, criminal and previous employer background checks, and verify eligibility to work in the US.  Must be able to work at the facility location as scheduled.
