Description
The Archbishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ’s mission present and enduring as Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Archbishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Archdiocese helps to extend the ministry of the Archbishop in particular ways as outlined in the position description.
I. POSITION PURPOSE
The Coordinator will be responsible for planning and leading participants from St Gabriel and Prince of Peace parishes on a trip to the Steubenville Youth Conference in Spokane, WA in the summer of 2024.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with parish staff, especially the Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation, volunteers, parents, families, and others to handle all logistics and preparation for the Conference.
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers who lead high schoolers from St Gabriel and Prince of Peace to the Steubenville Youth Conference in Spokane, WA.
- Encourage trip participants to deepen their relationship with Christ and the Church by participating fully in conference events and offerings, especially including Mass and Confession.
- Manage all trip logistics, including funding, transportation, safety, and supervision.
- Comply with all Safe Environment policies as mandated by the Archdiocese of Seattle and the local parish.
- Keep all necessary records using parish software.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Primary:
- Willingness and ability to support the mission of the Church by extending the ministry of the Archbishop.
- Ability and desire to use God-given gifts and talents in service of the local Church in support of the collaboration between lay and ordained Ministers.
Experience:
- Some experience, paid or volunteer, working with youth in a parish or ministerial context preferred.
- Able to use Microsoft Suite
Other Elements:
- Bilingual in English and Spanish highly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines and with multiple tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people, including both internal and external stakeholders (for example, management, staff and vendors).
- Excellent communications skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the Catholic Church in Western Washington; active member of a parish/faith community in good standing with the Church, highly preferred.
