Utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, works independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. Provides health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. They may care for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly as noted in age-related category and area of expertise. APRN/PA Emergency Medicine 0.6 Flex FTE Brainerd, MN PRACTICE SPECIFICS: The APRN or PA will function in a collaborative practice consisting of 13 emergency medicine physicians and 3 dedicated emergency medicine APRN/PAs, managing patients with acute or episodic healthcare needs within the Emergency Department. Emergency Department Shifts in ED: 10 hour Rotating shifts Patient population: 27,000 patient visits annually in the ED Practice: Multi specialty Hospital serving a Regional Population of over 125,000. Primary responsibilities: Managing minor emergency department patients of all ages in a 19-bed emergency department. Provide medical procedures including wound repair, suturing and splinting. Provide patient education, counseling and referrals as clinically warranted. Practice includes medical evaluation and interpretation of diagnostic tests including laboratory and x-rays. Education or experience in laceration repair, pediatric populations, x-ray interpretation, and splinting is desired. 19-bed ED 3-bed behavioral suite Hospitalist supported practice Admit to 162-bed St. Joseph’s Medical Center Level III Trauma Center Primary Stroke Center The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant utilizes advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. The NP/PA will provide health care to individuals and families, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention, caring for patients ranging in age from newborn to elderly. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others. EDUCATION: Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state (if NP). Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in appropriate state. Current certification in CPR/ATLS/CALS/ACLS. National certification, in applicable area. Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
