The plant engineer provides technical expertise to maintain and continuously improve technology in order to minimize cost, increase reliability and to insure the technical means for safe operation. It is essential that the Plant Engineer contributes to the Plant Leadership Team. The other half is assigned to plan, engineer and executes capital projects for all AN production units at the Mobile site. The incumbent ensures that all engineering and construction work for capital projects is carried out in a timely, cost effective, safe and technically superior manner in accordance with accepted engineering practices, governmental regulations and Evonik standards. The incumbent can work simultaneously on complex and difficult projects with the support from other engineering disciplines (i.e. S6 or PT&E group) RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the technical care and condition of a production unit in cooperation with the Production Resource, Area Engineering Manager and Production Superintendent. Assures the defined technical availability of the production plant according to the production requirements, with continuous technical improvements, and in conformance to changing requirements in respect to economics and EHSQ aspects. Responsible for planning, managing, and organizing the technical support to the plant as assigned by the Area Engineering Manager. This support includes maintenance activities, technical changes/improvements and technical documentation. Provides plant specific technical expertise, insuring regulatory compliance of technical documentation and maintenance practices. Finds and recommends concepts for expansions, targeting cost reduction, quality increase, production availability, etc. Uses mature engineering judgment, creativity and foresight to initiate and to execute studies, projects and new developments, and to anticipate and solve unprecedented problems with a focus on long term technical solutions Prepares basic process documentation (PFDs, P&IDs, Equipment Specifications) on capital projects and/or engineering studies. The incumbent is business oriented in his work and shows a high level of cost awareness and cost responsibility and knows accounting principles. REQUIREMENTS An engineering degree with at least 3-5 years experience is necessary for this position. Excellent cooperation with Production and Technical Departments is essential for the success of this position. The incumbent must possess broad based skills in engineering, process technology, planning and organizing, regulatory issues as well as cost and schedule management as they relate to capital investments. Extensive knowledge of the maintenance process, tools and an aptitude towards troubleshooting of mechanical equipment is essential. The incumbent should have proven human relation skills with emphasis on verbal and written communication.
