We are seeking an Executive Director of Late Respiratory & Immunology (R&I) Clinical Operations. The Executive Director, Late Clinical Operations reports to the VP, Head Late Clinical Operations and is accountable for the quality of program management of assigned clinical development programs including submissions within the Late R&D portfolio. You will work with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs and Biometrics Therapeutic Area (TA) Leads to ensure robust strategic and operational planning has been incorporated throughout the governance process, to be responsible for delivery of projects to plan and to drive standardization and operational excellence across a portfolio of work. You will work across the R&D organization representing Late Clinical Operation in Operational Excellence activities, leading and participating in peer/technical reviews and governance meetings as needed. You will be responsible for recruitment, capability build, individual development and performance management of assigned R&I Clinical Operations staff, eg Senior Global Clinical Operational Program Directors (Sr. GPDs) and Global Clinical Operations Program Directors (GPDs), and contribute to functional related activities partnering with functional leaders within Late R&I and across functions ensuring high quality contribution to process improvement initiatives and to bring back to Late TA for implementation. The scope of the process improvement should have significant impact across the TA organization. What you’ll do Communicate the business priorities and vision to staff ensuring adoption of globally agreed TA and clinical development strategies. Establish, direct and provide strategic global leadership for Late TA Clinical Operations staff working on clinical programs in scope/portfolio. Ensure delivery of all the operational and clinical development components of the global clinical programs within scope. Lead/participate in R&D operational initiatives and implement/translate operational excellence into Late TA clinical programs Lead TA Clinical Operations staff, eg Sr. GPDs and GPDs. Assign capable Late TA Clinical Operations resources to meet the clinical drug project demands in collaboration with other departments and capacity management. Work across Late TA Clinical Operations group to develop, maintain and implement a clinical operations TA strategy for delivery of the overall R&I portfolio. Act as a key point of escalation for issues impacting across program with both internal and external partners Develop indication/disease area level operational strategies and ensure sharing good/standard methodologies across the portfolio. Provide strategic leadership to drive projects and foster a performance driven global culture. Participate in due diligence to support TA evaluation of assets. As part of Late TA Clinical Operations leadership team, sponsor Clinical Operations nondrug strategy & organizational infrastructures. Work with colleagues across R&D Clinical Operations to establish relationships for joint activities, including development of Clinical Operations’ capabilities and improving ways of working. Lead strategic initiative looking across the Late TA portfolio, non drug/functional project or drug project, as needed. Contribute to the development and maintenance of delivery models/options, balancing customer needs and efficiency. Deliver agreed departmental activities within functional budget target In collaboration with VP, Head Clinical Operations, drive an environment of TA and global standardization, continuous improvement, standard methodologies and driving productivity gains for competitive advantage. As a member of the Clinical Operations TA leadership team, develop and deliver departmental performance targets and metrics ensuring effective risk planning and clarity of issue escalation pathways Ensure compliance to ethics, policies and standard procedures Essential for the role Bachelor of Science degree required; Master of Science degree preferred in related discipline, or equivalent work experience. Extensive late stage drug development experience ideally including time in role such as a Global Project Leader at Sr. Director level or equivalent Relevant therapeutic experience and confirmed ability to learn new indications Proven global line management expertise; experience of performance management and development of Director level staff Proven experience in leading and implementing improvement initiatives Proven change management experience Proven strategic thinking and influencing Functional management experience, leading resourcing and budget planning/oversight Established and well-connected network with other Late TA Leaders, Development Operations Leadership and R&D Leadership. Seeks to improve continuously where it counts, based on good Awareness of external competitive environment and operational practices .
