4moms is looking to add a Director of Quality to the team! The Director of Quality role at 4moms is part of the team that directly oversees the responsibilities of monitoring and improving customer experience, reducing total cost of quality, ensuring domestic and international regulatory compliance in our products and processes, and continually improves the effectiveness of the 4moms Quality Management System(QMS). We are open to someone living in Pittsburgh or working remotely but open to traveling to Pittsburgh at least 2x per month.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead a team of Quality Managers, Engineers, and Technicians, both domestically and internationally, through mentorship and guidance in three core areas of Quality Management:
- Design Quality
- Develop and teach quality policies, procedures, processes, programs, and practices that support and improve the QMS
- Actively participate in standard and regulatory compliance committees to help keep ahead on any impending changes
- Collaborate with Product Development teams to ensure adherence to current and new product design and performance standards, both domestic and international.
- Production Quality
- Manage the quality processes at Contract Manufacturers, including Incoming Quality Control (IQC), Outgoing Quality Control (OQC), and First Time Yield (FTY)
- Work with Product Engineers to develop Testing Methods and Specifications
- Evaluate testing results
- Initiate Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR)
- Facilitate Internal Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA)
- Own responsibility for and provide timely product quality issue mitigation
- Evaluate inspection methods & techniques
- Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, peers, manufacturing partners, suppliers, and direct reports
- Field Quality
- Utilize structured problem-solving skills to identify opportunities for improvement
- Work with Engineering and Product Management teams with implementing corrective action plans and monitor the effectiveness of their solutions
- Work with Product Development team to develop and approve ECOs and ECRs
- Drive down production costs by establishing quality tools, metrics, methodologies, and strategies
- Lead Continuous Improvement efforts and responses to quality and/or compliance issues
- Design Quality
What we need from you (required skills/mindset):
- Leadership experience with Lean Six Sigma, 8D, or other similar structured problem-solving methodology
- Active participant in standard setting organizations such as ASTM, SAE, IEEE, or similar
- Experience working with government regulatory agencies such as CPSC, FDA, Health Canada, EMA
- Good understanding of statistical analysis and production control processes
- >10 years of experience in a Quality Engineering role
- >5 years team management of Quality Engineers and/or Quality Technicians
- >5 years of experience working on quality systems with international and domestic manufacturers, suppliers, or regulation organizations
- Experience coaching and mentoring individuals in their development as Quality Engineers and Technicians
- Experience implementing or revamping Quality Management System for in high volume production environment
- Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written), problem solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Quality, or Manufacturing
- Experience conducting Design of Experiments (DOE) and Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA) studies
- Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
Some nice to haves (but not required):
- Master’s degree in engineering, Quality, or Business
- Demonstrated quality management experience in one or more of the following high-volume markets: Juvenile Products, Toys, Consumer Electronics, Home Goods, and Automotive
- Experience with juvenile product compliance and regulatory standards, domestic and/or international
- CQE and/or CQM certifications from American Society for Quality (ASQ) or similar organization
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certifications
