Job Purpose: 4S – Silversword is seeking a junior to mid-level Manufacturing Technician to work with our Applied Physics Division (APD) on production contracts. Under minimal supervision, build, test and trouble shoot electronics or optical systems as required to support the Applied Physics Division at 4S – Silversword. Work will be performed in a laboratory environment with a variety of moderate to complex tasks and functional activity.

System assembly and test
- Assemble optical or electronic systems under the guidance of a manufacturing lead.
- Test and validate systems for functionality and performance.
- Ability to work with test equipment including oscilloscopes, electronic multimeters, optical power meters, laser beam analyzers, etc.
- Ability to work with manufacturing tools for soldering/de-soldering, optical alignment, precision optics cleaning, fiber optic cleaving, splicing, and polishing,
- Familiarity with laser and precision optics handling.
- Experience cleaning and assembling opto-electronic components
- Assist in writing reports, operational documentation, and other documents as required.
- Other duties as assigned

Military Facility Access: Must be able to qualify for and obtain a military base access pass.
Clearance: A security clearance is not required for this position at this time. US Citizenship is required.
Education and Experience: This position requires:
- A certificate as a Fiber Optics Technician or an Associates Degree from an accredited institution in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or other related field, or at least two years of directly relevant experience.
- Experience with fiber optics or electronics.
- The ability to read and follow schematics, wiring diagrams, or logic flow diagrams
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel software is desirable.
- Experience in or work for the U.S. military is also highly desirable.
