Overview: As a Dental AR Department Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Accounts Receivable operations within our dental practice. Your role will involve leading a team of AR specialists, implementing efficient processes to ensure timely collections, and maintaining accurate financial records. You will collaborate closely with other departments to optimize revenue cycle management and contribute to the overall success of the practice.

Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of Accounts Receivable specialists, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and adherence to best practices.

  2. Process Improvement: Develop and implement effective strategies to streamline the accounts receivable process, including billing, collections, and reconciliation, to maximize revenue and minimize delinquencies.

  3. Financial Analysis: Analyze AR aging reports, identify trends, and develop action plans to address outstanding balances and reduce aging of accounts receivable.

  4. Billing Compliance: Ensure billing practices comply with industry regulations and standards, including HIPAA and insurance billing requirements, to minimize compliance risks and ensure accurate reimbursement.

  5. Patient Relations: Oversee communication with patients regarding billing inquiries, payment plans, and financial arrangements, maintaining a professional and customer-focused approach to enhance patient satisfaction and retention.

  6. Insurance Coordination: Coordinate with insurance companies to verify coverage, submit claims, resolve denials, and follow up on outstanding claims to optimize reimbursement and minimize claim rejection rates.

  7. Financial Reporting: Generate regular reports on accounts receivable metrics, revenue performance, and collection trends, providing insights and recommendations to management for improving financial outcomes.

  8. Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, such as front office staff, billing, and finance, to streamline workflows, resolve issues, and ensure seamless coordination across the revenue cycle.

  9. Technology Utilization: Leverage dental practice management software and other relevant tools to automate tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance accuracy in accounts receivable management.

  10. Training and Development: Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to dental billing and revenue cycle management, and provide ongoing training and professional development opportunities for the AR team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience (3 years) in dental accounts receivable management or a similar role within the healthcare industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
  • In-depth knowledge of dental billing processes, insurance claim submission, and reimbursement procedures.
  • Familiarity with dental practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Eaglesoft) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, insurance companies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with a strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret financial data and reports accurately.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to implement innovative solutions to improve AR performance and financial outcomes.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and compliance with regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA and ADA guidelines.
