The Oncology Outcomes Research (O2R) team is composed of high functioning individuals with outstanding strategic, technical and communication skills. The team is a key member of the Evidence Generation and External Alliances Organization within the Global Medical function and develops strategy for and delivers impactful real world, economic and patient reported research for the AZ oncology portfolio. The mission is to focus on identifying, quantifying, and communicating the medical value proposition of molecules in the oncology portfolio. O2R is a thought partner for the Franchise Leads and an important member of the Global and US Core Medical Team. Activities focus on the generation of evidence to assist payer and health care provider (HCP) decision-makers and include scientific evidence for reimbursement dossiers and market access. The deliverables from this team have a significant impact on the success of the global medical strategy.

The Senior Scientist is an individual contributor role and will be a crucial member of an Asset team that is collectively responsible for delivering strategic plans and implementing projects. The Senior Scientist reports to the Asset Lead, Oncology Outcomes Research, and will be responsible for leading the execution of health outcomes and real-world strategies and studies on a global and US market level. This role is also responsible for working with key internal collaborators supporting the execution and communication of studies. This position requires an individual with scientific knowledge of HEOR and its application throughout development process, business insight, and interpersonal skills.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for the execution of the Asset strategy for the Oncology Outcomes Research team, and other activities to assess, quantify and communicate the value proposition for the asset.

  • Responsible for specific Global and US Regional health outcomes strategy.

  • Conduct outstanding quality research that is medically relevant, scientifically valid, and aligned with the evidence generation and communication needs.

  • Will support asset leads and work with outcomes researchers with diverse technical skills.

  • Present research findings at scientific congresses and participate in the development and writing of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

  • Translate output from research into tools and resources for field teams.

  • Manage relationships and budgets with vendors to ensure timely completion of high quality, projects.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the disease state, market & customer dynamics, the competitive landscape, and reimbursement issues

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry, graduate degree strongly preferred (PhD, MS, MPH) in health economics, epidemiology, outcomes research and/or related fields.

  • Understanding and knowledge and application of epidemiological/health outcomes methodology within pharmaceutical industry at an international level.

  • In-depth expertise with research methods for real world research, HEOR projects including pharmacoepidemiologic models.

  • Demonstrates analytical, judgment and problem-solving skills.

  • Travel-10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Scientific degree

  • 3 years of HEOR or Outcomes Research experience within industry

  • Standout colleague and supports the asset team within the O2R organization.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
