GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Grounds Assistant to join our team at the RV campground. As a member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of the campground grounds and facilities. Your primary focus will be on maintaining the outdoor areas, performing general repairs and maintenance tasks, and assisting with various projects as needed. REPORTS TO: Campground Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- 40 % [Grounds Maintenance] Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the campground grounds, including landscaping, pathways, picnic areas, and common spaces. Perform regular mowing, trimming, and edging of lawns and ensure proper irrigation and drainage systems are functioning. Monitor and address issues related to the campground's flora, including planting, pruning, and removing trees or shrubs as necessary. Conduct routine inspections to identify and address potential safety hazards, such as uneven surfaces, damaged fences, or trip hazards. Assist in maintaining campground amenities, such as fire pits, grills, and playground equipment, in safe and functional condition. Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute landscaping and grounds improvement projects.
- 40 % [General Maintenance] Perform routine maintenance and repairs of campground facilities, including buildings, cabins, RV sites, and utility connections. Conduct regular inspections of electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, and promptly address any issues or concerns. Repair or replace broken equipment, fixtures, or furniture as needed. Paint, stain, and perform minor carpentry work to maintain the appearance and functionality of campground structures. Assist with maintaining inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment. Collaborate with the maintenance team to plan and execute larger-scale renovation or construction projects.
- 20 % [Ad-hoc] Assist with setup and takedown of campground events and activities. Provide support during emergencies, such as severe weather events or power outages. Collaborate with other departments, such as front desk and housekeeping, to ensure smooth operations and address guest-related issues. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the management team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Some high school preferred.
Valid Driver’s License strongly preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The grounds and maintenance employee will work in both indoor and outdoor settings throughout the campground. The physical work environment and requirements include:
- Outdoor Work: The majority of the work will be performed outdoors, exposing the employee to various weather conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, or sun. Adequate protective gear and clothing should be worn as necessary.
- Physical Stamina: This role requires physical stamina to perform tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy objects, equipment, or supplies. It may involve frequent walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching.
- Heavy Lifting: The employee may need to lift and carry equipment, supplies, or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Proper lifting techniques should be used to prevent injury.
- Use of Tools and Equipment: The employee will utilize various hand and power tools, as well as maintenance equipment, to perform tasks. Knowledge of operating and maintaining tools and equipment safely is necessary.
- Exposure to Chemicals: When handling cleaning agents, paints, solvents, or other chemicals, proper safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment, must be followed.
- Height and Confined Spaces: The employee may occasionally work at heights or in confined spaces while performing maintenance tasks. Adherence to safety protocols and guidelines is essential.
