Summary The Server Administrator participates in all aspects of design, analysis, implementation and support of systems, software or other solutions to Information Technology and acts as contributing member for all assigned projects. Participates in design, planning, installation, and support of operating systems, applications, and services. Perform routine problem analysis and resolution design for systems and applications both on premise, hybrid, and cloud based. Maintains effective communications with other groups. Performs and test routine system backups and restores. Maintains reports regarding system downtime, plans for preventative maintenance, and disaster recovery. Installs patches and upgrades to server hardware, firmware, and/or software. Creates and maintains documentation of IT configuration, processes, and procedures. Participates in and supports capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department management. Participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Exercises independent judgment in the planning, scheduling, organizing, controlling, and monitoring of IT projects. On-call for production system support for on premise, hybrid, and cloud-based platforms. Qualifications and Education Requirements BS degree in computer related curriculum and 5-8 years network and operating system support or AA degree and 6 years’ experience in network and operating system design, test and maintenance or equivalent related experience. Solid understanding of Windows Server technologies (2016 and 2019 preferred). Solid understanding of Active Directory administration, DFS, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and related network services (i.e. DNS, SMTP, DHCP, Load-Balancers, etc.) Previous experience with SAN technologies (Nimble, QNAP, VXRail) Must have well refined troubleshooting skills, ability to determine the root cause of a problem and identify and resolve systemic problems. Must be self-motivated and able to work in a team environment. Incumbent must hold one or more of the following: CompTIA Security , CompTIA Server , Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), VMware Certified Associate (VCA) Preferred Skills Experience with Government Cloud Provider such as AWS GovCloud, Microsoft Azure Gov, Google Cloud for Government, etc. Previous experience deploying production systems in the cloud (AWS, Azure, etc.) Experience with Azure Security and Identity services (e.g., Security Center, Azure Active Directory, RBAC, NSGs / ASGs) Experience with Azure Networking services (e.g., VNETs, Load Balancers, Front Door, ExpressRoute, Traffic Manager, Content Delivery Network) Previous experience supporting the following: Microsoft Exchange 2016/2019 and Office 365 (Mailbox maintenance), Microsoft Teams, E-Discovery, Conditional Access Policy, Azure AD, Microsoft Entra ID. Experience supporting the following Linux platforms (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu). Experience with Microsoft IIS 7/8. Administration experience with Microsoft PKI Experience with Cisco UCS Blade platform Administration/Architect experience Microsoft File Server (DFS-R/DFS-N, ABE) Experience with virtualization (VMware) Microsoft PowerShell Scripting for Server/Platform management Disaster Recovery Planning/Experience Security Responsibilities Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Must be able to work overtime on and off-shifts as required. The employee is on call 24x7 for the resolution of problems and issues.
