We are a growing family of animal hospitals with locations throughout the Greater Phoenix area. In 1984, the first practice (Arrow Animal Hospital) opened in the Glendale area. Today, that practice has grown to a family of 22 collaborative hospitals built upon the principle of outstanding patient care and client service.

The Floating Veterinary Technician role assists in the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery at all AZPetVet locations. This role will be scheduled at locations in need of coverage based on availability. Floating Technicians will be able to choose their own availability and will be scheduled by the Learning & Development Department. Technicians may perform all the functions related to any medically related procedures under the direct supervision of the Doctors or Hospital Manager. Responsible for the care of all pets in the hospital’s care. Delivery of excellent customer service to clients. The position should be able to improve the quality of care given to patients and aid the practice in achieving greater efficiency and productivity in the hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Works in conjunction with Learning & Development to deploy to AZPetVet Hospitals based on need & identified availability
  • Performs all medical/surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the Doctors or Practice Manager. Must be highly skilled in surgery assistance. 
  • Responsible for client communication (verbal and written) regarding all aspects of the client’s pet. 
  • Assist in discussing treatment plans, and provide data entry for those plans for documentation.
  • Medical record management through a practice management software program. 
  • Ability to gain compliance on treatment plans and to educate clients.  
  • Assist in surgery care relative to pre-anesthetic protocol, anesthesia monitoring, and post-operative care. 
  • General duties include dispensing medication, performing x-rays, performing blood draws, placing catheters, obtaining samples, providing treatments, running diagnostic equipment, nursing care, vaccine administration, and animal restraint. 
  • Utilization (set-up, breakdown, cleaning, maintaining) of medical equipment. 
  • Client engagement and delivering WOW customer service is an important aspect of the role. 
  • Cleaning all areas of the hospital. 
  • Assist with CRS and Kennel functions when called upon. 

Education and Experience:

  • At least three years as a Veterinary Technician 
  • Preferred: CVT – Certified Veterinary Technician who has completed an associate degree in Veterinary Technology and has successfully passed the national exam. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds. 
  • Standing for long periods of time, walking, sitting, squatting, pushing, pulling, and using hands and fingers for technical and administrative work. 
  • May have extended periods of time viewing computer screens and reading.  

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

This role can be full-time, part-time, or seasonal. The full-time schedule would typically be 4 days a week, 10-hour days which could include weekends. The actual schedule may vary depending on hospital needs.
