WHAT YOU GET TO DO

Job Summary: The Safety Compliance Team Lead will define, develop, and nurture Knapp Inc. (KUS) management and culture of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). You will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the OH&S management system in compliance with ISO 45001:2018. Additionally, you will coordinate and support all areas and departments of KUS in meeting OSHA regulations, ISO 45001:2018 requirements, and in raising awareness of the health and safety processes.

You will oversee the implementation of safety management systems at all new and existing Customer Service project sites and Kennesaw office and campus, providing training, mentoring and guidance as applicable. Also, you will liaise with our parent company, Knapp AG (KAG) and support all corporate OHS standards, as well as assist with auditing and provide feedback on all KUS Customer Service projects as relevant to improve transparency, understanding, and management of OHS issues.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:    

Subsidiary Support

  • Provide guidance and instructions regarding safe and healthy working conditions for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health for all Customer Service projects & Kennesaw campus and persons working at or on behalf of KUS.
  • Responsible for ensuring the OH&S management system conforms to the requirements of ISO 45001:2018 and legal requirements of 29 CFR  1904 Recording Standards, 1910 for General Industry and 1926 Construction Industry.
  • Responsible for monitoring and recommending changes of the performance of the OH&SMS (ISO 45001:2018) as well as systematic review, evaluation and reporting using key figures that are carried out periodically.
  • Consult and mentor all employees with regards to OH&S system implementation and conduct trainings for all new employees, regardless of tiles. Maintain training documents in accordance with OH&S legal requirements.

Compliance

  • Assist with top management’s commitment to fulfill legal requirements and other requirements for OH&S topics.

Training & Maintenance

  • Responsible for continuous improvement and training to ensure compliance with all legal requirements pertaining to OHS and ISO 45001.
  • Provide training programs for all OH&S topics, including actions and process(es) needed to determine and address risks and opportunities to the extent necessary to have confidence that they are carried out as planned.

Internal Systems

  • Ensure the integration of the OH&SMS requirements into KUS business systems.

Communication

  • Ensure KAG is well informed of changes and news-worthy events within the area of OHS-KUS.
  • Effectively communicate relevant service-related information to line managers.
  • Regularly meet with all subsidiary managers to ensure compliance to standards in OHS and ISO 45001, both at a local and corporate level.  
  • Continually demonstrate ability to raise awareness of the health and safety processes to KUS employees and other interested parties.


WHAT YOU HAVE

  • Degree in a related field preferred, but not required
  • 3-5 years of experience in managing Safety Compliance
  • OSHA 500 (Construction) and/or OSHA 501 (General Industry). OSHA 30 may be considered if a demonstrable history of successfully working within the OHS environment is provided
  • Must have/obtain and retain ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification
  • Strong knowledge of the industry and market conditions
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and rapport building

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Overtime (occasional) as required by work
  • Travel may be required up to 10%
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Passport or ability to obtain passport
  • Physical requirements may include sitting for longer periods of time, walking, speaking, reading, reaching at arm’s length, occasional squatting, lifting of no more than 50 pounds
